SCRIPTURE from John 3:7-8 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.
THOUGHT I’ve been thinking again about something that’s been on my heart for months now: how Jesus says the Holy Spirit is like wind in the trees. This saying in born out in Acts 2:2, when the coming of the Spirit is described: “Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.” The result of that wind? Each person had a different language for the purpose of sharing the good news with many nations.
Whether we’re comfortable with it or not, when we are walking in step with the Spirit of God, we may not comprehend where our directions come from or where we are going, but, trusting the Spirit of God, we will go forth to do God’s will. Preaching to myself, and undoubtedly a few of you as well, I have to let go of “knowing,” in favor of praying that the Spirit will move me like the wind, even the violent wind, to God’s own destination.
