SCRIPTURE from Matthew 6:25-27 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
THOUGHT I’d like to borrow a thought I heard from Pastor Steve Furtick of Elevation Church: “stop worrying about what God is already working on.”
Jesus taught us to pray for todays’ bread, not tomorrows’. In fact, as God fed the children of Israel from heaven, the manna was only to be gathered daily or it would rot (except when they gathered enough for the Sabbath). David, the king after God’s own heart said, “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.” (Ps. 37:25-26)
Trust is really the issue at hand, and, spiritually speaking, our trust is a larger issue than anything else we’re going to hear about today.
