SCRIPTURE: John 19:30 NIV Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
THOUGHT: To Jesus, ‘finishing’ meant doing his father’s will. It didn’t mean healing every person who needed healing, or casting out every demon, or raising every person who died during his ministry. He hadn’t preached every sermon or done every amazing miracle people wanted him to. Just what his Father told him to. In John 17:4 Jesus says, “I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.”
It didn’t require a lot of all the things we think bring success. It required good listening, and a willingness to bend his own will to what God would say. Even before he was a good leader, Jesus was the best follower the world has ever known.

PRAYER NEEDS: That we’d be more preoccupied with listening for what God would say and less preoccupied with anything else.
