SCRIPTURE: 2 Cor. 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
THOUGHT: Losing heart is a strange thing. I can go for weeks and months under challenging circumstances and then, out of the blue, just lose confidence. Circumstances seem beyond hope, beyond the reach of even God to my suddenly doubting heart. But isn’t this where the grit of faith resides? It must come alive when we can’t see — when our wasting bodies and strength cry, “enough!” Then, it really means something to believe we are being renewed inwardly, even — or especially — if we can’t feel it or see it.
“Hope that is not seen is no hope at all,” writes Paul in Romans 8. Faith must stretch us — there is no other way.

PRAYER: I believe you are a way-making, miracle-working, promise-keeping, light-in-the-darkness kind of God. And even if I can’t feel it or see it, you are working out your will in me and in the world you died to redeem.
