The Prosecution vs. The Defense

SCRIPTURE: Job 1:6-7 One day the members of the heavenly court came to present themselves before the LORD, and the Accuser, Satan, came with them. “Where have you come from?” the LORD asked Satan. Satan answered the LORD, “I have been patrolling the earth, watching everything that’s going on.”

THOUGHT: It took me many years to be as aware of Satan as he was of me. Many years before I was on to his strategies, he was wielding them in my life and a lot of damage was done. Revelation 12:10 says he “accuses us before our God day and night.” He isn’t alone as he accuses: there is one who argues against him, Jesus. “He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf,” says Hebrews 7:25.

I don’t know about you, but Jesus arguing for me is a picture that is dear to my heart. We are not alone in our wars, trials, and struggles. There is one defending us, even if/when we have failed him.

PRAYER: Thank you, Jesus, for being the perfect, powerful intercessor, there at our Father’s side, arguing against our Accuser, day and night.
