SCRIPTURE: Luke 12:6-7 What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
THOUGHT: Is it wrong to dwell in peace when there is so little of it around us? Today’s devotional is unapologetically about comfort. Tomorrow I can talk about the battle, the pandemic, the need for courage, the way toward bigger faith…but today, I just want to drop all the armor and rest.
I enter the rest of trust, just knowing these birds singing outside my window this morning are important to our Creator. Jesus, who knew God infinitely better than most, issued these words of comfort: If a small, common bird gets our Father’s attention, we do too. The birds can sing and fly and nest without worry, and we can go about our lives without worry too, knowing we are on the Father’s mind and heart.

PRAYER: God How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. (Ps 36:7)
