SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 6:18-19 NLT So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.
THOUGHT: It may be easier to hold to the hope that lies behind us — the hope that we’ll wake up and things will return to “normal.” But I find this verse in Hebrews reminding me that God is at work in the future. Like an anchor, the hope that lies before us will keep us steady in all manner of seas when we flee to him for refuge. God’s promise and oath!
