Walking Through the Valley

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 23:4 (NIV) Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.

THOUGHT: I lived a long time as a Christian believing something was wrong with me. Bad things happened and I spent most of my time and energy trying to keep them from happening again and walking in shame. Then I began to understand that the power and glory of God is not that bad things don’t happen, it’s that he has the most incredible power to bring good out of evil. The Psalmist says as we walk through the valley, not that God will provide an escape from the valley. Life has become more adventurous the more I put my trust in God and just kept walking.

PRAYER: Help us walk through the valleys of our lives with confidence that you are near, great Shepherd. Help us let go of the fears that seek to make us either stop or run, and hold on to the one holding on to us.
