SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 13:1 NLT If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
THOUGHT: As a writer, I have to admire the Apostle Paul — he says so much with only a few words. What appeals to me here is that Paul did speak several languages, both of men and angels (1 Cor. 14:18), and yet he puts all his linguistic accomplishments in proper perspective – words don’t amount to anything unless the life of the talker/writer is a life of God-like love. Sure, I’ll make some noise (and can’t we hear a lot of that in culture around us?), but in the end all my words will fade, and the way I lived will be the more important testimony.

PRAYER: Oh God, I long to be like you. To speak a word that penetrates, that calls out life, that tells truth. But even more than the perfect words, I want a life that speaks agape love to everyone around me.
