SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 13:2 NLT If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.
THOUGHT: We often think of prophecy as foretelling events, but it’s far more than that – it’s the ability to speak God’s truth into a life or lives under the direction of the Holy Spirit. It’s truth from God’s perspective, which, since God is love, means each word and action is completed through love, by love, for love. All the truth and knowledge and faith in the world aren’t enough for the Christ follower who hopes to strengthen, encourage and comfort others. You could move mountains without love and it wouldn’t hit the mark. That takes love together with the truth about things.

PRAYER: Lord, we do wish to grow in our ability to speak prophetically, and we do want to understand your plans and have great knowledge and wisdom and the faith to move mountains – but oh, Lord do not grace us with these gifts unless we seek to love like you.
