Every Mile Matters

SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 11:23 NIV By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

THOUGHT: Some of us start our lives in peril, as did Moses. But few of us had to be hidden because the government wanted us dead.

Think of it: the very baby that missed death became the boy in the palace, hidden in plain sight; the teen that killed an Egyptian and ran out into the desert to escape; the man who met the God of his forefathers there, and came back under Yahweh’s authority to deliver an entire people from slavery, reviving their faith in the living God. Moses is also credited with making certain that Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy (also called the Torah in Judaism) were written down for our sakes. Every step of his life mattered to the man God made him into for the sake of others.

Peril in childhood, feeling alone and angry, murder, fear, and struggling to trust God don’t disqualify you or me from doing the work God sets before us. You may not have had parents who saw your extra-ordinariness, but you had a heavenly Father who created you with his purposes in mind. He saw you – and got you through every peril to this point. And he will accomplish his will in your life if you trust him.

PRAYER: Oh living God, you see people born into peril, and you hear the cries of those who need delivering. You are able to accomplish more than we could ask or imagine! Do your will through me. Use my weaknesses to show your strength.
