Seeing the Invisible

SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 11:27 NIV By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.

THOUGHT: You’ve probably known or read about someone who had a near-death experience and heard how it changed the rest of their life. Well, it’s also true that when you have an encounter with God, although invisible, it changes how you see things. You get an epiphany. The text says Moses persevered because “he saw him who is invisible (emphasis mine).” Because Moses had seen God, and seen God at work, he believed in a very big God. He had witnessed truth and every lie had to bow to it. If your faith is small, you probably won’t go toe-to-toe with the most powerful ruler in the known world. If your God is bigger than circumstance, bigger than human power or invention, and bigger than all the fear you feel, however, you will persevere through whatever God asks because you trust your very life to God.

PRAYER: God, we dare to ask you to show us mercy and grace, but do we dare to move in close enough to know more? Do we dare to throw our strategies for keeping you at a safe distance to the fire and pursue you hard? Please take us by a way that leads to big faith.
