Grow In Trust

SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 11:30 NIV By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days.

THOUGHT: It is the very first time the new nation of Israel will do battle in the land God promised them. So, you’d think, ‘storm the gates,’ right? But God says: March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in (Joshua 6:3-5).

Over and over, God delivers the nation in supernatural ways. He feeds them manna. Their shoes don’t wear out. Their job is to grow in trust – but they fail just as often as God delivers.

Like that ancient people, our job is to grow in trust. Not play at faith. Not worry our prayers. Believe.

PRAYER: Your promise still stands, God. Great is your faithfulness. I’m still in your hands; this is my confidence: You’ve never failed.
