SCRIPTURE: Philippians 1:21 NIV For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
THOUGHT: Paul has it good. Perhaps you think I’m crazy to say that? He is literally chained up and in prison – accused as a criminal – the thing most of us would consider our ultimate nightmare. How can he have it good? Because Paul has trust as big as Texas. Chaining him up doesn’t change his work or attitude in the least. If he lives, it means more good work preaching and teaching the gospel; if he dies, he gets to see Jesus face to face. Yes, he has it good – in his heart, in his mind, in his soul. I envy Paul for his absolute, rock-solid, never-flickering faith. Because of it, he really lived.

PRAYER: We live in fear so often, God, creeping and cowering in the shadows of faith. Give us hearts like Paul, and call us toward life and more life.
