Unbreakable Spiritual Lifeline

SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 6:19-20 NIV We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.

THOUGHT: What is the hope spoken of, the “unbreakable spiritual lifeline,” says the Message, that anchors us through stormy waters?

The writer of Hebrews begs his readers to move on from elementary teachings of Christianity: “turning your back on ‘salvation by self-help’ and turning in trust toward God; baptismal instructions; laying on of hands; resurrection of the dead; eternal judgment (Heb. 6:1-2 MSG)” and move into deeper waters – faith in the promises of God. So, what has God promised you? Are you sick and tired of arguing about elementary teachings, ready to build into faith that follows Jesus right behind the curtain into places where you once weren’t able to go, but now are? That life is where you will be anchored, not blown about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. (Eph. 4:14).

PRAYER: Help us move behind the curtain as we follow you, Jesus. Into the deeper waters of faith, knowing we are anchored firmly in you, our unbreakable spiritual lifeline.
