SCRIPTURE: 2 Timothy 2:15-16 MSG Concentrate on doing your best for God, work you won’t be ashamed of, laying out the truth plain and simple. Stay clear of pious talk that is only talk. Words are not mere words, you know. If they’re not backed by a godly life, they accumulate as poison in the soul.
THOUGHT: There’s work, and then there’s talk. When the two of them are separated from one another and treated differently, we get “do as I say, not as I do.” There’s a disconnect, and it’s serious. It’s especially profound to me, as a writer, that to God, words are holy. God used his breath and mouth and words to create the world and human life, and Scripture teaches that no word going out from his mouth will ever come back empty. It will accomplish exactly what God intends. (Is. 55:11).
In a Godly life, words are not mere words, and they are backed up by our work and our character.

PRAYER: Let the words of my mouth, the meditations of my heart, and the work of my hands be pleasing in your sight, oh God, connected by the truth you offer.
