Bruised & Smoldering

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 42:3-4 NIV A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth.

THOUGHT: Often bruised and sometimes smoldering, we get discouraged. That’s just the way it is, especially in the justice department. Anyone who works for justice knows that it’s slippery, often one-step-forward-two-steps-back, and sometimes downright dangerous. Don’t you just need to hear that God won’t falter or be discouraged until justice is established here? And what’s more, God’s justice won’t break fragile, faltering hearts who’ve longed for it to the point of burn out.

PRAYER: You are strong, God, even when we are weak and discouraged. Bring forth justice! Do not falter or be discouraged, for the sake of your great name and kingdom. On earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
