SCRIPTURE: Galatians 6:2 NIV Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
THOUGHT: We often stumble when it comes to even thinking about obedience. There is a will inside of us (God’s gift!) that struggles against authority (sin’s gift). We are mostly ruined when it comes to doing what God asks from a willing heart – although some among us have an easier time due to either wiring or the many heartaches they’ve experienced due to disobedience.
It helps that Jesus boils down his law into just a few words, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you (Jn. 15:12 ESV).” Paul backs up those simple, but challenging words by telling us that part of fulfilling Jesus’ law of love is carrying each other’s burdens.
Whose burden will you lighten today?
PRAYER: Jesus, show me who needs someone to help carry their burdens today in the same way you have shouldered mine. Help me live out your simple law of love.
