SCRIPTURE: John 6:68 NLT Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.
THOUGHT: Peter made a lot of mistakes, but Peter got a lot of things right too. When he makes this statement, many disciples who trail along behind Jesus have left the pack because he says such difficult things. So, Jesus turns to the twelve closest to him and says, “are you also going to leave?”
Peter has been around Jesus long enough to know that he doesn’t want a world without him. He knows with certainty that, no matter how hard the life, how dire the circumstances, how difficult it may be to understand the messages and parables, he must follow. There is almost an air of desperation to his comment, “to whom would we go?” He has seen the light – the light of the world, and he has heard the word – the Word of God speak.
There is simply nowhere left to search if he wants real life.

PRAYER: Jesus, we also have nowhere else to go if we want to really live. Like Peter, we get a lot of things wrong, but let us get this right: “Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.” Isaiah 50:7
