THOUGHT: I wonder if it’s my love of words that first led me to the Amplified Bible? On the flip side, it might be because, as a bear of little brain I’ve needed specific clarity. Or as a human being filled with doubts and distrust, I need to have things explained more deeply with more nuance. The Amplified Bible tells me more precisely what “patient endurance” looks like: bearing up under difficult circumstances without compromising…for the joy ahead.
That’s a word for today.

PRAYER: Jesus, for the joy set before you, you endured. And not just the cross. You endured infighting. Corruption. Abuse. Scorn. Mockery of what you stood for. Defamation of your character. Misunderstanding. Abandonment. Betrayal. And still you endured – so we could know what love in action looks like. So help us endure and love.
