SCRIPTURE: 2 Cor. 26:14-16 NIV We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me in Hebrew, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ “Then I asked, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ “‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,’ the Lord replied. ‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me.’”
THOUGHT: I’ve noticed Jesus is pretty straight forward when he calls you. There isn’t a lot of small talk involved. Here, just a few powerful words and Saul became a different man. Paul. The legalist of the legalists, the persecutor of the followers himself became a follower, and perhaps the chief devotee, for who else followed Jesus as hard as Paul?
I wonder, what words has Jesus said to you? Have you kept them, treasured them, taken them out time after time and replayed what they meant to you? Have you seen how one powerful word can change you? Have you asked Jesus to speak such a word to you today?
PRAYER: Jesus, you changed Saul so dramatically, with just a few words. Please speak your powerful words to me too. You promised Paul he was hand-picked to testify to what he had seen and would see of you. Would you do the same for me?
