SCRIPTURE: 2 Cor. 4:16-17 NLT That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
THOUGHT: I know there is resistance to thinking about dying, especially if you are young. Some would say it is negative to consider it, only bringing you down, but I’m of the mind that pausing to look at the bigger picture is a good thing. If you’re young and healthy and can’t imagine your body needing help of any kind, it’s good to acknowledge the decisions you make with that wonderful youthfulness live on into forever. If you’re feeling old, like me, what a consolation it is to know I am more than my body. My spirit is young and vigorous, outpacing my body at every turn – and God has done that! Only a God worthy of my worship could keep taking these present troubles and producing glory out of them.

PRAYER: Thank you, God, that you take all that weighs and wars against our minds and bodies and turn it into glory, using it to shape us further in your image. As a bonus, you keep renewing our spirits with your own so that we can have hope, like Paul did, even in the midst of trouble.
