Wholeness

SCRIPTURE: Phil. 4:7MSG Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

THOUGHT: Often, I think of one of you when I write each morning. Sometimes, I am secretly writing a devotional for myself. Today is that day because anxiety is shaping my prayers, rather than the other way around. Worship is the great antidote, popping me out of my smaller story and into God’s larger one, where wholeness and peace and love and kindness and strength and wisdom flow. I pray you might join me there – take 5 or 10 minutes out of your day to just devote to worship, and let’s trust the God we love to come and settle us down with the miracle of wholeness, “everything coming together for good.”

PRAYER: I know I betray a lack of trust, Lord, if I worry my way through the day (and night). Lift this burden as I worship you – the only One who can work out everything I worry about for good because I love you; because you have purpose for me and have called me (Rom. 8:28). Come and bring your wholeness.
