Consider the Options

SCRIPTURE: Ps. 113:5 NIV Who is like the LORD our God?

THOUGHT: One of the most compelling reasons to believe in God, to really trust in God, lies in looking at the options. People serve gods that demand self-abasement; our God says each human life is precious to him. People serve gods that can never be pleased at any price; our God asks of us to love, to act justly, to show mercy, to walk humbly with him. People serve gods that demand their death; our God laid down his life for us. People who claim they have no god make gods of money, power, sex, glory, relationships, drugs and alcohol, really anything they can serve; our God releases us from the tyranny of little gods and offers the freedom of a redeemed life and story.

Who is like the LORD our God?

PRAYER: I am compelled to trust and believe you, God, when I look at all the other dead ends. You, who describes himself as rich in mercy and justice, and me as a beloved child. There is no one like you; I will have no other gods before you.
