SCRIPTURE: Psalm 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
THOUGHT: God is a silent witness to every moment of your life, listening and watching deeply enough that he knows you more intimately than you even know yourself. Psalm 139 is all about that. He knows your thoughts, he sees your comings and goings, he listens to your heart and mind even as you are planning what to say next, and he formed you in the womb and planned your life.
And yet, there is something God is waiting to know about us. Will we invite him to more than just knowing and seeing – will we take a step closer, inviting testing, correction, and leadership? This is where real relationship begins, but it’s also where vulnerability begins. And that, my friends, is not something we humans are keen on.
PRAYER: It’s beautiful to know that you watch over us so lovingly, Father. But when it comes to inviting you to mess with our treasure – to test us, correct us, and lead us – things can get dicey. Please give us strong hearts, bold hearts, humble hearts that long for your kind testing, correction and leadership.
