Reeling & Rocking

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 28:2-4 MSG. Suddenly the earth reeled and rocked under their feet as God’s angel came down from heaven, came right up to where they were standing. He rolled back the stone and then sat on it. Shafts of lightning blazed from him. His garments shimmered snow-white. The guards at the tomb were scared to death. They were so frightened, they couldn’t move.

THOUGHT: For the next two weeks, I’ll be writing about Easter themes. Not like colored eggs and chocolate bunnies, but like ground-breaking, earth-shattering, tomb-wrecking, reeling and rocking realities.

We are an Easter people, even though we don’t live sometimes in the parallel kingdom of what the death and resurrection of Jesus actually accomplished. It’s good to focus on that for awhile. To re-examine and re-imagine the pivotal point in history that divided time into B.C. and A.D. To flesh out a little further what we mean when we say, “Happy Easter.”

PRAYER: You planned a ground-breaking, earth-shattering, tomb-wrecking day that we call Easter, Lord. Renew us in the truths of that pivotal moment in the history of your world. Refresh us who live in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water (Psalm 63:1).

Amy released a full-length book in early 2021, Walking When You’d Rather Fly: Meditations on Faith After the Fall. Maybe you’d like to check it out here.
