Trust

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 46:9-10 NASB I am God, and there is no one like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My plan will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’….

THOUGHT: I don’t know about you, but I find some relief in knowing that God’s will is for our good and God’s plans will always be accomplished in the end. The relief doesn’t come because I understand the will of God, it comes because I trust God. Relief doesn’t flow because my life makes sense and everything is rosy, it comes because a Good Shepherd has been walking with me through dark valleys for years, putting his protective arm between me and things that would harm. And just in case you think otherwise, I still find myself fearful of circumstances and people and all that is going on around us in culture. Still, trust is a gift of relationship, not some intellectual exercise. I don’t trust my husband because I tell myself I really should; I trust him because he’s proven himself faithful, loving, generous, and committed to my good. Same with God, and when the chips are down, that trust makes the difference between giving up or going on.

PRAYER: If I didn’t trust you, Lord, what a sorry mess I would be in. But I do – you’ve trained me in trust when the rest of the world broke promises, lied, cheated and stolen. I don’t always understand, but I always trust and want to trust you more.
