Long Suffering

SCRIPTURE: For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:16-17 NIV

THOUGHT: If you ever wonder what would happen if God took his presence out of the world, this verse explains it. It’s all God’s, both what we see and what we cannot see. And because of God, all this matter hangs together. I’m pretty sure this is what wrote the book on long-suffering.

PRAYER: Triune God, I know it’s probably not hard for you to create it all and hold it all together – but it sounds like hard work to me, and today I think of you with gratitude. All the work you do, the labor on behalf of your creation. All the years of watching the gift of freewill misused. Of hoping the people you love will love you in return. Bless you, God, for your spirit of long-suffering. Because of it, I am living and breathing today.
