Dawn & Suddenly Seeing More

SCRIPTURE: We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:19-21 NIV

THOUGHT: The conversion of the soul takes a lifetime. It is a matter separate from salvation, which is accomplished when we first bow a knee to Jesus, even though we don’t receive its full benefits until heaven. Until then, we don’t understand everything at once. We won’t have the same faith at 50 that we had at 20 if we continue to press in. And through it all, the prophets keep speaking to us, meeting us wherever we are on that journey. It’s like a slow dawning, Peter says, just like the view changes between 5 am and 6 am right now. The landscape doesn’t change – nor do the words of the prophets, inspired as they were by God – but suddenly things that weren’t visible, are. First, shadowy outlines, then shadows recede and we begin to see the shape of things. Slowly, incrementally, colors appear to flesh out the shapes and we see in beautiful 3D what was hidden in darkness just moments before.

For now, we may feel like we’re holding onto a dim flashlight, but when it’s time, the dawn will come and we’ll suddenly understand more. More of our soul will be converted to the truth we’ve been trusting all along.

PRAYER: God who reveals yourself through prophets – speaking truths that are sometimes obscured – give us light to hold onto in darkness; but bring the dawn too, until we see in spiritual 3D, understanding more of your purposes; until more of our souls are converted to your view of things.
