SCRIPTURE: Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9
THOUGHT: Talk about a walk in the parallel kingdom! This word from Peter is all about living in a kingdom we cannot see, but one that is every bit as real, and even more so because it goes on forever. Our faith, our hope, our love are taking us to a inexpressible and glorious place.
Jesus is both the author who perceives who we can be and the finisher who rewards what we have become under his teaching. This passage is about celebrating now how he already sees us at the big reveal, living in the joy of total, complete, whole, and perfected salvation.
I think Peter knew about this first-hand. Jesus renamed him, seeing the rock he would become rather than the reed he was (Matthew 16).
PRAYER: Oh Lord Jesus, how grateful I am for words, spoken deep into the heart. Words of truth that call out what you see in the end. I worship you, because only you can make a rock out of a reed.
