Polka Dots

SCRIPTURE: And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? Matthew 6:28-30 NLT

THOUGHT: I am partial to polka dots. As I write, the wildflowers are out in profusion, polka dotting the roadsides that were bare just a few weeks ago. Yellows, white, pinks and purples nod happily, not a care in the world – just doing what God created them to do, never worried about whether a storm is coming, whether it will rain enough, whether the sun will live or die, or what they will wear. They are beautiful without really trying…just like you!

If worry drives our every move, we miss the beauty of the landscape around us and the love of the creator who formed us.

PRAYER: Jesus, you walked this earth among us, teaching us what the kingdom of heaven is like. It’s not about worry. It’s not about hurry. It is about blooming as you have wired us, being enjoyed, and enjoying the gifts and beauty inherent in each of your children.
