Stuff of Life

SCRIPTURE: Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33 NLT

THOUGHT: This wasn’t good advice from some random religious expert, or even your parent, although they may have said it a few (hundred) times. No, this was Jesus — who knew God better than anybody — boiling the life we are called to lead down to its essence: Don’t waste valuable time on asking God for stuff. Spend your time pursuing God and Godliness and leave God to deal with the ‘stuff.’ He knows what you need before you ask, and is also apt to do more than you ask or imagine!

PRAYER: Oh Jesus, you once compared your Father to farmer who is generous with his seed, throwing it on the rocky path, among the weeds, and even where the birds can pick it off. Help us trust your generosity,  and keep our eye on pursuing your kingdom instead of being consumed with all the stuff of life.
