Borrowing Trouble

SCRIPTURE: So don’t worry about tomorrow,  for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:34 NLT
THOUGHT: “What about those days when today’s trouble is enough for a whole week?” I want to ask Jesus, half serious, half laughing. I know he had days like that too — and worse. But Scripture teaches grace is given on an as-needed basis, kind of like manna was distributed in the wilderness, then rotted if you were tempted to gather more than you needed. If you borrow trouble tonight, you’re a hung bunny because you can’t borrow grace or strength for something that hasn’t happened — plus you won’t sleep very well and you’ll need even more grace and strength when you wake up worn and weary tomorrow.
God’s mercies are new every morning, and there will be enough for whatever tomorrow brings. Trust that, and trust the voice who kindly said, in so many ways, don’t worry.

PRAYERWorry gets out ahead of you, God, leaving little room for you to show up, and little room for us to stretch our faith. Help us rest from worry and live, move, and have our being in trusting you.
