Sparrows & Children

SCRIPTURE: Watch this: God’s eye is on those who respect him, the ones who are looking for his love. He’s ready to come to their rescue in bad times; in lean times he keeps body and soul together.  Psalm 33:18-19 MSG

THOUGHT: Did you ever come home after work to a child throwing him/herself into your arms? Did you ever pick up your kindergartner after school to squeals of joy and bear hugs? I know what that feels like – and it’s a treasured memory (oh, how beautiful…if only it would stay that way!).

Here we see God looking for an eager face. A beloved child whose face is turned toward him in anticipation – watching for evidence that Beloved God has his eye on sparrows and all those who respect and are eagerly waiting for his love to show up, his rescue to arrive, his provision to sustain.

PRAYER: Beloved God, it’s us, your children, waiting and watching with faces upturned and arms outstretched. Come rescue, come provide. Keep us together, Lord, body and soul. For the sake of your great name and kingdom, Amen!
