The End. Of Psalm 33. And June ’21.

SCRIPTURE: Love us, God, with all you’ve got—that’s what we’re depending on. Psalm 33:22 MSG

THOUGHT: Psalm 33 ends with this verse – and so do the June devos. The year is somehow half over and I’m not sure my heart and mind and body are in sync with that! For the first part of July, I’m going to focus on the intersection of faith and freedom – but for today, let’s talk about the happy ending the Psalmist gives us, as so often is the case with the final verse of a Psalm.

Yesterday I wrote of good dependency, and verse 22 underscores that deep reliance, that healthy connection between God and those who trust him.

The Psalmist sees the unfailing, never-ending love of God as the way through anything life can throw at us, and hasn’t that proven true in your own life? As we put our trust in God, that love shows up in so many ways. True provisions: renewed strength, light on a path we couldn’t see, miraculous interventions, breaking of strongholds and lies, generous forgiveness, hope in hopeless circumstances, shalom in storms. Let’s end this series as we began it with verse one: Good people, cheer God! Right-living people sound best when praising. Use guitars to reinforce your Hallelujahs! Play his praise on a grand piano!

PRAYER: You are recklessly generous, God, not treating us as our sins deserve, nor paying us back in full for our wrongs. As high as heaven is over the earth, so strong is your love to those who fear you. And as far as sunrise is from sunset, you have separated us from our sins. As parents feel for their children, you feel for those who fear you. You know us inside and out, keep in mind that we’re made of mud. Men and women don’t live very long; like wildflowers they spring up and blossom, but a storm snuffs them out just as quickly, leaving nothing to show they were here. Your love, though, is ever and always, eternally present to all who fear you, making everything right for us and our children as they follow your Covenant ways and remember to do whatever you say. (Based on Psalm 103:10-18 MSG)
