SCRIPTURE: “Look, I have specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. Exodus 31:2-4 NLT
THOUGHT: I take great joy in the knowledge that God appreciates craftsmanship. To a degree, we are all craftsmen, working at our differing trades, by God’s grace practicing dedication and excellence at whatever we put our hands to. My own creative juices – my love of music, painting, design, and writing are a reflection of the creative nature of God. And not just that! I see in this little sketch about Bezalel, that God calls the artists and fills them with the Spirit. To God belongs the wisdom, ability, and expertise, and to God they return praise when used well.
Whether you consider yourself creative or not, I hope you’ll look at the way God has wired you and called you for his purposes. Take a minute today to enjoy the truth that you are specifically chosen and filled with the Spirit of God, given the wisdom, ability and expertise for whatever God has given you to do.
PRAYER: There is purpose in your every move, Father. We long for our own lives to reflect that part of you. Help us see the life ahead and the gifts within as filled with purpose. Guide us into the works you have prepared for us, for we are your handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which you prepared in advance for us to do (Eph. 2:10).
