Rebels

SCRIPTURE: “Remember this, keep it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels. Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’ From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do. Isaiah 46:8-11 NIV

THOUGHT: Just because we don’t understand God’s plan doesn’t mean there isn’t one. Does it surprise you that when we forget that and make our own plans, or don’t really take the truth to heart, God sees us as rebels? It’s because he’s revealed his plans already, and we have failed to trust his word.

According to Isaiah 46, the antidote to rebelling is remembering. Today, why not make a commitment to look back at God’s faithfulness rather than ahead at what is unknown…at least to you? I’ll do the same.

PRAYER: Just a glance from Genesis to Revelation says to me that you have made known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. Why I doubt that, or think my own ideas or thoughts superior, is more of a mystery than even you are God! Help me remember. Teach me to love your words and trust your great heart, even and especially when I cannot understand.
