SCRIPTURE: O God, God of Israel, there is no God like you in the skies above or on the earth below who unswervingly keeps covenant with his servants and relentlessly loves them as they sincerely live in obedience to your way. I Kings 8:23 MSG
THOUGHT: What does a king, the man with everything, pray for? And what does he pray over the people he leads? A peek into 1 Kings 8 gives interesting insight. I hope you’ll take time to read all of King Solomon’s prayer after he dedicated the temple; imagine it on the lips of a president or pope or your own church leader. What a blessing to see powerful leaders bow before the Almighty – what a longing I have in my own heart to see ours stand up and proclaim God and only God as king, forever. And the king in this story reminds the people that their obedience to God’s ways – not his own! – is the key to the True King’s relentless, promise-keeping love.

PRAYER: Thank you for the example of kings and princes and prophets who all called you God. We pray for those who lead, some by default, some by design. Bring them to the place of Solomon the Wise who knelt before you, proclaiming there is no God like you.
