Crazy!

SCRIPTURE: I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Psalm 34:4-8 ESV

THOUGHT: When David pens this poem, God has just saved his life in a peculiar way. David has been captured by someone named Abimelek (and that’s all we really know about the captor) and is released (“driven out”) because he pretends to be insane.

I’m just saying, God can give you some pretty strange instructions from time to time when you ask him to deliver you from your fears. Just listen hard, and don’t forget your radiant face and song of praise when you get to the other side!

PRAYER: Thank you God that your book has stories that help us understand you are a God who loves to deliver us from our fears. We look to you, we seek you, we cry to you, we fear you, we taste and see that you are good, we take refuge in you!
