SCRIPTURE: He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17 NIV
THOUGHT: Maybe it’s just my active imagination, but for whatever reason, this verse has captured my attention for years now. I think of it often, like a moment-to-moment promise as the world around us spins further apart. People ponder what would happen if God took his presence out of our world, and this verse provides something to think about. When the triune God is so thoroughly rejected, things start to come unglued.

PRAYER: Jesus, in you all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through you and for you (Col. 1:16). You own it all and sustain it all and we worship you for your power and willingness to do so. Hold us together, Lord!
