SCRIPTURE: Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. Hebrews 11:1 AMP
THOUGHT: For any of you who didn’t know, we’re in the midst of packing to move later in October, so title companies and title deeds (and lots of messes) are part of the equation. People rarely ask us about our home, “is this yours?” But if they do, we’d be able to show them our clear title (and the insurance we had to pay for to assure its integrity).
In the same way, our faith is like a title to our forever home. People rarely ask us to prove that home is ours, but they watch us come and go and draw some conclusions. And if they do, we need to “always be ready to give a [logical] defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope and confident assurance [elicited by faith] that is within you (1 Peter 3:15 AMP).” To press the analogy further, there is even title insurance: “The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people (Ephesians 1:14 NLT).”
We’ll be moving to that forever home someday, and though the process of getting ready can be messy, the down payment is made, the title insurance is activated, and the title is divinely guaranteed.
PRAYER: Thank you for the gift of faith, God. Thank you for the eyes of faith. These gifts help us comprehend as fact what cannot be experienced by our physical senses.
