Got your mad on?

SCRIPTURE: Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving]; for the [resentful, deep-seated] anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God [that standard of behavior which He requires from us]. James 1:19-20 AMP

THOUGHT: Some of us have a fast burn, some of us have a slow burn. But at one point, most of us lose it and get angry. It’s good to remind ourselves that even the right set of circumstances made sinless Jesus angry; but it also good to remember that “resentful, deep-seated anger” doesn’t accomplish righteousness. So, if the news is just making you madder and madder (like it is me), it’s not a bad idea to paste James’ words on your mirror or fridge. There is a time for righteous anger, but it might be after you’ve been a careful, thoughtful listener, a speaker of carefully chosen words, and a patient, reflective forgiver.

PRAYER: Help my anger to be fully under control, God, a fruit of having your Spirit birthing what is good in me, including peace, patience, and love. Use it as you will, but don’t let me use it willfully.
