SCRIPTURE: Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [that is, separate you from profane and vulgar things, make you pure and whole and undamaged—consecrated to Him—set apart for His purpose]; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete and [be found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful and absolutely trustworthy is He who is calling you [to Himself for your salvation], and He will do it [He will fulfill His call by making you holy, guarding you, watching over you, and protecting you as His own]. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 AMP
THOUGHT: I often think, after reading and re-reading the Scripture I’m writing about, that there is nothing else that needs to be said. That’s the way I feel this morning. This passage is so whole and robust in the Amplified Version that it is an entire thanksgiving feast unto itself. But, because I get paid the big bucks to write (lol), I’ll just add this: Did you notice all of the action belongs to God? It brings to mind something Paul said to the Philippians, “It is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose (Phil. 2:13).” God sanctifies us. God keeps our spirit and soul and body complete and blameless. God gives us purpose. God is faithful and absolutely trustworthy in both calling us and making certain we reach the journey’s end. Yes, there are things we must do to stay on the path, but the main one is staying connected to God, abiding, while God does the heavy lifting.

PRAYER: It would all be so impossible if we had to work our way to you, Lord. Thank you for covering all the ground between us. For making all things possible for those who believe. For doing the heavy lifting as we abide in you. We hold on; you never let go.
