SCRIPTURE: But let all who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice, Let them ever sing for joy; Because You cover and shelter them, Let those who love Your name be joyful and exult in You. Psalm 5:11 AMP
THOUGHT: Thanksgiving can ever, only grow out of need. Think about it – if you never have a need, never ache, never lack, never hunger or thirst, or never fear, you’ll never have a concept of what it is to experience the goodness of God’s shelter. You won’t run to him for refuge, put your trust in someone you cannot see, and end up singing for joy as you watch his amazing ways of rescue.
In my own story, God has challenged me over and over to stop trying to rescue myself (or someone else) so that his bigger, better rescue can happen. Honestly, sometimes I’ve only had the strength to crawl to him for refuge as a storm raged around me. But I’ve been delivered in ways I couldn’t have thought up, and that’s where songs of deliverance come from. We learn God is good only by experience.

PRAYER: O God, You are my hiding place; You, Lord, protect me from trouble; You surround me with songs and shouts of deliverance (Ps. 32:7).
