SCRIPTURE: I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. John 10:28-29 ESV
THOUGHT: Security is a big deal. If you get it when you’re little, you’ll likely have more confidence as an adult. If you lacked arms that held you securely – people who loved you and demonstrated that by protecting you and meeting your needs, you probably spend a lot of time looking for security from things rather than relationships. You may even be anti-security, pushing away anything that smacks of your neediness, toughening up, and looking for the next risk to prove your capabilities. That can complicate your relationship with God – I know this!
I love to watch good parents with their babies. Held, snuggled, spoken to in low voices with words particular to parents of babies. You know what I mean.
As you think about the fact that Jesus said you were a gift to him from God and that no one can snatch you out of his hand, and furthermore that you belong to God the Father, and there is no one greater to belong to and no one can snatch you out of his hand – give yourself a moment to feel secure. Tightly held. Loved. Protected. Wherever you are on the spectrum of security due to your life experiences, learn to love the hands that hold you. They can be trusted.

PRAYER: Thank you Father God and thank you Jesus for the assurance of hands that hold us tight and hands that will deliver on every promise made.
