SCRIPTURE: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
THOUGHT: Current culture has co-opted “optics” and turned the word upside down. Now it is used to mean perception – and the right optics are what matters most. Well, optics is the study of sight and the behavior of light, so I’d like to flip it over again and have a look.
Jesus is called “the light of the world,” and John says the life in him “was the light of all mankind (Jn 1:4 NIV).” So, having Jesus living inside each of us brings light. This is how being a new creation works – more light, less darkness. Like fiber optics, the strands of our new life pulse with light that can travel great distances quickly, carrying information from the one who is light to the ones who need light.
These are the fibers of our new creation. And these are the optics that matter most: The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (Jn 1:4 NIV).

PRAYER: Thank you God that your will was always for those living in the land of deep darkness to see a dawn. For the people walking in darkness to see a great light (Is. 9:2 NIV). A light that shines on, gives new life, and cannot be overcome.
