Falling in Step With the Wind

SCRIPTURE:  The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.  Psalm 37:23 NLT

THOUGHT: Each morning when I sit down to write, my faith is challenged again. Can I really trust God to speak to me? Can I really trust God to speak through me? On a bad morning, it might sound more like, how could I possibly find anything worthwhile to say? But always (often before I get out of bed), I pray for insight, and I think of you who read, and ask that God will meet your need.

My point is that this is a life of faith, not of ubiquitous certainty, not of blissful consistency. Faith, by nature, requires humility, because we are not in the driver’s seat, we are in the listener’s seat. Jesus tells Nicodemus, “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit (Jn. 3:8 NLT).”

So, we fall in step with the wind when we fall in step with God — but God is directing the currents, and according to the Psalmist, delighting in the details of our lives. Isn’t that sweet to know?

Pray and have faith today as you walk out into the wind. God has promised direction.

PRAYER: Help us trust your promises to guide our steps, Lord. How sweet it is to know you delight in the details of our lives.
