Confiding God

SCRIPTURE:  The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare. Psalm 25:14-15 NIV

THOUGHT: We may think of confiding in God, but how often do we think of God confiding in us? And yet, this God who is jealous for our time and attention and love and respect promises just that.

There is a relationship to be built with the God of the Universe – and it’s about far more than salvation. And as we grow in immutable trust for the words he speaks to us through Scripture as well as in other ways, one day it suddenly becomes ridiculous to think we would go anywhere else for truth and justice and compassion. Just as Peter once said to Jesus, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life (Jn. 6:68),” our eyes go immediately and always to him.

As we move deeper into the life of faith, the stakes get higher and higher and our enemies get clearer and clearer. Only our confiding God can whisper the words that bring release from the snare.

PRAYER: Oh God, thank you for offering two-way relationship in this salvation life. We are incredibly blessed to confide in you, and have you confide in us – making known to frail humans the strength and glory of covenantal love.
