THOUGHT: Among the founders of the United States there was a belief that the truth was clear, self-evident, obvious, apparent, plainly visible to anyone that all men are created equal with God-given rights. It certainly seemed unconcealed to them. But truth and clarity are funny things. Spin the dial 246 times and you arrive here – a culture that claims radical freedoms for themselves yet takes away freedom of speech, thought, and life from those who don’t share their views. Like kings they rule, having “searched out the matters” of population control, genocide, infanticide, sexual grooming, sexual slavery, gender, genetic manipulation, and social control (to name a few). They keep searching out matters, these little kings, not because they seek truth, but because they seek power. If one experiment fails, they shrug and move on to another. The cost to human life is enormous, but no matter – in their minds human life is expendable as long as their own is protected.
Solomon once said, “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun (Ecc. 1:9).” Still, I look on with horror as what I thought was self-evident becomes hidden. And I wonder, in this case, is God actually concealing matters, or are people just choosing not to see?
PRAYER: Oh God, would you continue to call forth righteous kings in our day who get to the bottom of matters here, bringing truth, wisdom and justice to bear and demolishing arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of you (2 Cor. 10:5).
