THOUGHT: I hate the feeling of helplessness I get when I watch my tax dollars go to fund the propagation of ideas (and acts) I don’t believe in and sometimes worse – to say ideas (and acts) I abhor wouldn’t be too strong a word. To some degree, it may always be the case as I’m certainly not in control of a single cent that leaves my paycheck destined for government. We need good infrastructure. We need good protection. We need representation. I don’t hate government, I hate wickedness, deceit, manipulation, “the spin,” smoke in mirrors, propaganda, hidden agendas, and outright abuse of power. I hate being compelled to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas I disbelieve and abhor. Ideas that tear down everything God says leads to human flourishing.
I pray for the day when we have leaders who hate ill-gotten gain, and I pray we don’t have to wait for eternal life to see it.
PRAYER: Oh God, mend our every flaw. Confirm the soul of our nation in self-control and its liberty in law.
